The CryoPen, a small pen-like device, freezes unwanted blemishes such as skin tags, age spots and milia and is considered a fast, effective and safe solution for removal of these skin imperfections. A fine jet of nitrous oxide at high pressure is sprayed onto the lesion. This destroys the tissue by freezing the inter-cellular fluid, forming ice crystals which rupture the membrane, thereby destroying the cell. It is very fast taking just a few seconds per blemish with minimal discomfort and no down time.

As the area freezes it turns white. After a few seconds this white area thaws, a flushing occurs and the area will turn red. You may feel a pinching sensation as a weal is formed and itching from a histamine reaction. Over the next couple of days the weal will crust over and form a scab which will typically fall off within 2 weeks. The lesion will be completely healed in 2 to 6 weeks. After primary healing occurs, the area will be lighter than the surrounding skin and will take some time to re-pigment.
